The police department is beefing up resources at one of its largest precincts in Queens.

The 105th Satellite Precinct, located on North Conduit Avenue and 243rd Street, will now be open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Previously, the station was only open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The department said it will also send 18 additional officers to the location.

Officials and community members from the Laurelton and Rosedale area said they are pleased with the added police presence.

"It's been a long time coming," said City Council member Donovan Richards of Queens. "We've probably been talking about this for probably 40 years."

“We understand that crime doesn't stop at midnight, sadly, that crime didn't take the next five hours, seven hours off," said state Senator James Sanders of Queens.

"I feel it's important that we staff this precinct 24 hours, 7 days a week. It gives the community an additional resource," said NYPD Chief of Department James O’Neill. "Closing the doors at midnight and reopening it at 7 or 8 in the morning, if you live across the street, that’s not a good feeling."

The 105th Precinct is the fourth-largest in the city.
