LOS ANGELES—Twenty-five years ago, a camera captured the arrest of Rodney King, shaping U.S. history forever.
George Holiday recorded the video from his Los Angeles apartment balcony in 1991, showing LAPD officers beating King.
King, who was black, was released two days later without being charged. The following year, four white officers were acquitted of criminal charges. News of the acquittal sparked violent riots around Southern California. King was found dead in his swimming pool in 2012.
