GASTON COUNTY - Gaston County Police released the 911 call from a triple homicide earlier this week. The call gives more information about a possible motive in the murders.
The 911 caller is calm, sharing details so chilling, they don’t seem to believe they could be true. The person is never identified, and portions of the call are redacted. But what you can hear, may be the motive investigators didn’t share before.
"My sister-in-law had told her family that she killed her husband,” said the caller. “She caught him sleeping with another woman. She cleaned up the bullet casings and took care of the bodies."
The 911 call was placed Monday night. A short time later police discovered three bodies at the Gambino home in Alexis, NC. The caller says Crystal Gambino admitted to killing her husband Giovanni, and two others Geoffrey Gilliland and Stephanie Sanchez.
"She said one of them may be in the back yard, dead, the woman," added the caller.
The caller calmly relayed information to dispatch. They say Gambino has lied in the past. But the details she confessed are disturbing.
"She says she put the woman's body in a wheelbarrow and rolled her out in the backyard to a burn pile," continued the caller.
Police found the three, all naked, shot to death at the home on Alexis Lucia Road in Gaston County. Gambino was arrested a short time later. Prosecutors said in court Tuesday that the gun police believe she used was still in her car.
We learned on Wednesday that police responded to a 911 hang up at the home on Sunday morning. We’re told they spoke with a man they believe was Giovanni, who said the call was an accident.
We spoke with a man who says he was best friends with Crystal. He said both were "good people." Another neighbor, who didn't want to give his name or speak on camera, defended Crystal saying she was always kind to him.
Gambino was charged with two more counts of first degree murder Wednesday. She is scheduled to be in court Thursday for a first appearance on the new charges. Prosecutors said they will present the case to the Grand Jury, which meets next Monday.
