Crews are investigating after a Brooklyn street was flooded with water early Friday morning.

It happened near a construction project on Calyer Street, between Franklin and West Streets in Greenpoint.

The project involves work on a water main.

Local residents say the flooding caused major headaches.

"They've been in everybody's basement, one of the basements was flooded, I'm told. The water was literally was like river going down the street, I felt like I had waterfront property," said one resident on the street.

Workers with the Department of Environmental Protection were called to the scene to do an emergency fix.

It's still not clear what caused the street to flood.
