The city's largest movie production complex is growing.
Steiner Studios at the Brooklyn Navy Yard has recently filed a new building application for a three-story soundstage.
The expansion would be 178,000 square feet and would feature six soundstages, support spaces such as dressing rooms and wardrobe storage.
Doug Steiner, the chairman of Steiner Studios, tells NY1 he believes film production will become the city's new form of income.
"TV and film production is really important to the future of New York City. Tech and media really is an expanding field, we export around the world and it's important to the economy it makes a lot of money for the city, a lot of money for the state," Steiner said.
Another addition includes a backlot studio, which directors can use for street scenes in television and film.
