Bronx residents protested an organization they say benefits from gentrification in the borough.
Members of activist group Bronx is Not For Sale rallied Friday outside of the SoBro offices on Bergen Avenue near East 149th Street in Woodstock.
The non-profit was founded in 1972 and provides educational programs, job training and affordable housing to the South Bronx community.
But, protestors say the group works with real estate developers to build housing units tenants can't afford, and profits off of their displacement.
"They are making some deals behind closed doors, working with developers that are building housing that is not for our community, and it's eventually going to push us out," said Lisa Ortega with Bronx is Not For Sale.
"It's not about providing classes for young people, or for adults, or whatever," said Rafael Mutis with Bronx is Not For Sale. "They're really trying to be a gatekeeper for the developers, particularly in the South Bronx."
