Nine people, including three firefighters, were hurt in the fire in Fordham Heights that burned six buildings.
Initially, officials said 89 people had to be evacuated.
The Red Cross says that 40 people in around a dozen households are in need of Red Cross assistance due to the fire, and that number may go up.
