A new business opens its doors with a gift for some of New York's bravest. Island Auto Group donated a family transport van Tuesday as part of its grand opening ceremony.

The FDNY will use the vehicle to bring firefighters to doctors appointments and hospital visits. It will also take families to visit relatives that are hurt on the job.

"If any of their members get sick or cancer or treatments from being injured on the job we transport the families around so everytime we get a van it helps," said James McCarthy who is with Fire Family Transport.

"When you hear about all the firefighters who suffered from 9/11 and you know don't have transportation it just takes you back that they really need this," said Marcello Sciarrino who is with Island Auto Group

The van was dedicated in honor of firefighter Matthew Ambelas. He died last year in the line of duty.
