Hundreds of veterans came together Wednesday for a Veterans Day service at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum on the West Side.
Some of the veterans in attendance included former members of the USS Intrepid.
"We are all about connecting our history to our future. So if we can make a point of showing our future generations how important it is to be grateful to our veterans then we feel like we've done something fantastic," said Intrepid Museum President Susan Marenoff-Zausner.
"We walk in the parade and we hand out flags and we get a thank you from people - waving to us 'thank you' or mouthed quiet 'thank you' and that makes a veteran feel great," said Richard L. Mills, a U.S. Navy veteran.
A wreath laying ceremony on the Hudson also took place to honor veterans who sacrificed their lives and another to remember members of the USS Intrepid who died in the line of duty.
