We're learning more details about the sale of the city's largest rental complex.
According to sources, Blackstone Group still maintains air rights to build upon or sell its newly acquired open space in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village.
The city would have to support Blackstone if they decided to sell the space, but sources tell NY1 the group has no plans to build on the open spaces.
City officials are working with Blackstone to transfer its air rights within a certain area around Stuy Town.
Anything Blackstone builds would have to be approved by the City Council and must follow the city's mandatory minimum affordable housing requirement.
In a statement, the city says, "This represents a commitment to work with the new owner, which has agreed not to develop any of the open spaces within the complex and to protect its affordable housing"
