More than a dozen women in wedding gowns marched through parts of Queens for the Gladys Rocart and Victims of Domestic Violence Memorial Walk.

The annual event known as the Brides March raises awareness of domestic violence.

It also honors Gladys Ricart, a Dominican woman who was murdered 15 years ago by an abusive ex-boyfriend on her wedding day to another man.

Women in gowns and men dressed in black walked down Cooper Avenue to Woodhaven Boulevard ending at Queens Center Mall.

Participants say it is important to bring attention to domestic violence and keep Ricart’s memory alive.

"We have to be able to not be afraid to talk about the fact that any sort of violence in any relationship - whatever type of relationship - is unacceptable.," said City Council Speaker Melissa Mark- Viverito

Participants also marched in Manhattan and the Bronx.
