An actor tried to help his neighbor after a fire breaks out at their Manhattan high rise Tuesday.
It happened just before 4:30 p.m. at Manhattan Plaza, on Tenth Avenue between 42nd and 43rd.
The federally-subsidized building contains mostly tenants who are in the performing arts.
Actor Dylan Baker said he noticed the fire and ran to check on his neighbor.
"I immediately went to our next door neighbor, Vivian, because she is disabled, she walks with a walker and shes had some trouble over the years. And I banged on her door and yelled her name, but I didn't hear anything so I tried the door and it was open. I opened it and there were flames in the apartment and there was smoke everywhere." Baker said.
Firefighters were able to rescue the neighbor. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say the fire was contained to just the woman's studio apartment.
Most recently, Baker had a recurring role on "The Good Wife." He's also known for appearing in "Spider Man 2" and "Spider Man 3."
