A new program will help some Bronx high school students embark on a career in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The U.S. transportation department is awarding more than $700,000 dollars for the agency's "Workforce Investment Now-New York" program.
The program aims to prepare juniors and seniors at the Bronx Design and Construction Academy for careers in transportation, design and construction.
The initiative is modeled after a similar program developed by the transportation system in Denver.
The MTA says it will work with the Transportation Diversity Council to implement the program.
