Queens book lovers will have to travel a little farther if they want to shop at Barnes and Noble.

The book store giant announced it will be closing its Forest Hills location after two decades.

The company plans to close its doors by the end of January. A Target store will take over the location.

A Barnes and Noble spokesman says the company made their "best effort" to extend their lease but could not come to an agreement with the building's landlord.

Residents say they're sad to see this neighborhood staple go.

The Bayside store is also slated to close when its lease expires after the property owner raised the rent. The Vice President of Barnes and Noble Development said in a statement that the company is aggressively looking at new locations and expects to have a new store in Queens in the future.
