Darryl Dawkins, the backboard breaking NBA star also known as "Chocolate Thunder" has died.
His family says it was a heart attack.
Dawkins was known for his thunderous dunks.
He shattered a couple of backboards during his pro career and is thought by many to be a reason for changes to how backboards are constructed.
The Orlando native was the first player ever drafted in the NBA right of high school in 1975.
Dawkins spent the bulk of his 14-season career with the 76ers and New Jersey Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets released this statement: "Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Dawkins family and to all those who had the pleasure of knowing Darryl. He will be deeply missed.”
Darryl Dawkins was 58 years old.
