From shore to shore, Staten Island was buzzing with the sounds of summer this weekend.
Make Music New York hosted more than a thousand free concerts Sunday throughout the city.
Here in the borough, musical acts performed at eight locations, including a rock concert in Westerleigh Park.
The group says they hope to bring neighbors together through the performing arts.
Organizer Georgetta Lakeman adds, "They're able to put their blankets down on the grass, sit down, have their snacks and enjoy the music."
Musician Christopher DiSalvo says, “Between lyrics and instruments, everyone can relate to some kind of feeling and I think that's what music doe. It gives everyone a feeling."
Organizers say they expect more than 200,000 people to attend this year's event citywide.
