New Yorkers might soon be able to find out if they have a terrorist living in their neighborhood.
The State Senate this week approved a bill that would create a "terrorist registry" containing the names of anyone convicted of terrorism.
Convicted terrorists would also be required to check in with local authorities when they move.
The idea is based on the state's sex offender registry.
That allows the public to view the names, addresses, and photos of people convicted of certain sex crimes.
The legislation now moves to the Assembly, but it's not clear whether it will be approved there.
