The New York City Police Department commemorated the New York City Fire Department's 150th anniversary by raising the FDNY flag over NYPD headquarters.
Police brass honored their brothers and sisters in the fire department, who are celebrating their milestone.
Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said it feels great to be recognized.
"It's an honor to be here, in NYPD territory, at their home, in which they honor the fire department's 150th anniversary. And I think it points to the great partnership that the commissioner and I have, and that the departments have," Nigro said.
"I extended the invitation to the commissioner to come over and participate in the flag raising," said Police Commissioner William Bratton. "The flag will remain up over the weekend. This is a celebratory weekend for them."
The FDNY is holding an open house Saturday as part of their celebration. Firehouses and EMS stations across the city will be open to the public for free tours.
