Police are no longer actively searching for the coyote seen early Wednesday morning on the Upper West Side.
The NYPD says the wild animal has returned to the woods and poses no threat to the community.
Several people reported seeing the coyote in Riverside Park near 87th Street around 5 a.m.
Last week, police captured a coyote in the courtyard of a Manhattan church on Ninth Avenue near 28th Street.
It was taken to an animal care facility.
