Commuters in the city will be reaching a little deeper into their pockets starting this weekend.

Single ride subway and bus fares are going up 25 cents from $2.50 to $2.75.

The price of a seven-day MetroCard is increasing $1 to $31, and an unlimited monthly MetroCard goes up from $112 to $116.50.

Riders who spoke with NY1 during theFriday morning rush had a mixed reaction to the increases.

"We're paying to ride on the subway. Why do we have to pay that much? It's just not fair to us. And it's not like we're all getting increases in our pay," said one rider.

"It's very expensive, and sometimes the MetroCards don't even work after you put your money on after a while, so it's very outrageous," said another rider.

"I still think it's a bargain. It's still the best way to get around town," noted a third rider.

Tolls on MTA bridges and tunnels are going up, too

E-ZPass customers will now have to pay $5.54.

Those who use cash will see increases between 6.7 and 10 percent.

The fare and toll hike goes into effect Sunday.
