New Yorkers are bracing for some of the coldest weather this season so far as another round of snow could make for a slick Valentine's Day weekend.

Today's temperature is expected to be around 18 degrees but the wind chill will make it feel like it's at or below 0 through the afternoon.

Snow is expected late in the afternoon Saturday with two to four inches possible by Sunday morning.

As a result, the city Department of Sanitation has issued a snow alert for Saturday's weather.

Crews are loading salt spreaders, attaching plows to trucks and preparing tire chains.

The city has suspended alternate side parking Friday and Saturday to help with snow removal.

Drivers will still have to feed the meters.

New Yorkers who spoke with NY1 Friday morning outside Bryant Park recommended taking breaks when working outside and say proper clothing is the key to staying warm.

"I've been here since 8 a.m., and I gotta be here 'til 4 p.m. So it's freezing, but we get more breaks since it's so cold. So if I get too cold I can go into like a cafeteria or Starbucks or something and get warmed up come out again," said one frigid New Yorker.

With the temperature plunging, Mayor Bill de Blasio is warning New Yorkers to be extra careful.

"If there's any problems with heat or hot water please call 311 immediately.  Anyone who needs shelter will automatically be provided shelter.  The code blue status is in effect.  If you know folks who need shelter, call 311," De Blasio said.

Meanwhile, the Sanitation Department is loaning two snow melters to Boston to help prepare for yet another snowstorm.

Boston has already seen a record amount of snow this season, and is expecting another foot or more this weekend.
