Americans can now renew their U.S. passports online, the U.S. State Department announced Wednesday.

The State Department is debuting its new online passport renewal system to the public.

The new online system will make it easier and quicker for anyone with a passport to renew their passports online.

Prior testing of the pilot program has allowed the department to handle more passport applications at more times of the day.

Rena Bitter, assistant secretary bureau of consular affairs, joined “News All Day” on Wednesday to discuss the renewal process.
