As the Israel-Hamas war enters its third week, city-based startup H1 has shifted its focus to address the pressing need for medical assistance in both Israel and Gaza.

Ariel Katz, CEO and founder of H1, discussed the company's efforts on "News All Day" Monday.

Katz, a former resident of Israel, said he felt compelled to take action after seeing the distressing scenes unfolding in the region.

"I was in Indianapolis the Tuesday after the Hamas attack, and I was texting my friends and thinking, 'There's no way I could do nothing,'" he said.

While H1's primary mission involves connecting doctors to clinical trials and insurance companies, Katz said his team recognized the urgency of the situation and quickly mobilized.

"When we saw what happened, we pulled together a team, and said, 'Drop whatever you're doing, and just focus on this,'" he said.

H1 contacted doctors in the U.S. asking for volunteers, he said. In Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, H1 asked doctors about their medical needs.

The startup has gotten an "amazing response" from volunteers, he said, but noted that there is "still help that's needed" as fighting persists and healthcare systems in the region struggle to cope.
