More than 110,000 migrants have arrived in the city since last spring. An organization that is working on the ground to help those who are coming here in the hopes of a better life.

Natalia Aristizabal, deputy director of Make the Road New York, joins “News All Day” to discuss how they support immigrants through legal and education services, community organizing, and policy changes.

Aristizabal says that many are fleeing political persecution, extreme poverty, climate disasters, and more. When the asylum seekers arrive, they’re often scared and grateful at the same time.

In response to protestors who aren’t as happy about the asylum seekers arriving in the city, Aristizabal says New Yorkers should remember that this is a moment to act on American values while also pushing Congress to change foreign policy around immigration.
