This year marks the 55th anniversary of the musical “Hair,” and in that production, Melba Moore became the first African American actress in a Broadway production to take over a leading role from a white actress who happened to be Diane Keaton.

Melba Moore — who was born in Harlem — continues to work and has had a busy summer. She released a new song called “It Seems to Hang On” and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Moore joins “News All Day” to talk more about her legendary career.

Moore says she’s grateful for her career. Her advice for young performers includes encouraging them to study and focus on giving back.

Moore’s song “It Seems to Hang On” is available now.
