It’s the largest annual climate event of its kind, with over 400 events and activities. Climate week is underway here in the city, and throughout the week world leaders and activists are coming together to talk policy and initiatives.
Dan Zarrilli, special advisor for Climate and Sustainability at Columbia University and former chief climate policy advisor under former Mayor Bill de Blasio, joins “News All Day” to continue the conversation.
Zarrilli says that collaboration between the public and private sectors will help solve the problem.
He says the biggest issue is the burning of fossil fuels (oil, coal and gas) and that if we don’t “phase that out, it will only get worse.”
Zarrilli says marching and protesting is important, as is having an electric vehicle and installing solar panels. In addition, he encourages New Yorkers to come together and push politicians to do more.
