When the band “Shinedown” first got started 20 years ago, they actually signed their record deal with Atlantic Records in the city.

But they do more than just play music.

They are committed to shining a light on mental health.

The band also has a new single called “A Symptom of Being Human.”

“Shinedown” frontman Brent Smith told “News All Day” that the goal of the new song is to remind people that “we’re all a work in progress.”

He says the band has been addressing mental health for two decades and wants to empower people to understand that they need to talk about the issues.

They are so committed that they donated about $150,000 from ticket sales from their last tour to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
