We are celebrating 50 years of hip-hop and one of the people who helped elevate the game was the Smoother Operator, Big Daddy Kane. His hit songs, “Warm it up Kane” and “Ain’t No Half-Steppin,” Big Daddy Kane name him a hip-hop legend.
Big Daddy Kane joined “News All Day” on Monday to talk about how he considers it a blessing to be named a legend in the industry.
He started out rapping on the corner or in the lunchroom, battling different people. He was discovered by Biz Markie. His musical influences include Marvin Gaye, Barry White, and James Brown.
As for his legacy, he hopes to have made music that touched people’s lives.
Beyond music, Kane says that he loves to cook. And he has a documentary coming out on lyricism and hip hop called, “Paragraphs I Manifest.”
