Rawan Tuffaha, is one of the stars of the film, OKAY, which is featured in the ReelAbilities Film Festival.
The festival promotes awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with disabilities.
Tuffaha and Xian Horn, an advisory board member for ReelAbilities, joined “News All Day” to talk about their lives as people with disabilities who are also advocates for this community.
Horn has cerebral palsy and says it’s been a blessing in her life. She says it makes her unforgettable and attributes some of her positive outlook to her parents who celebrated uniqueness.
Horn also reminds us that everyone has setbacks because “everyone is fighting some sort of battle.”
Tuffaha is part of a band whose members are all on the autism spectrum. They’re featured in the film and she says that the movie shows them all pursuing their hopes and dreams.
She says she wants other people with disabilities to know that if her band “can do it, they can as well” and that their “future will be bright as long as they put in the hard work.”
