A prominent law firm agreed to concessions last week under the threat of sanctions from President Donald Trump, including $40 million in free legal services for causes he supports.

Manhattan-based firm Paul Weiss faced pressure after Trump’s March 14 executive order targeted its diversity hiring practices and its employment of Mark Pomerantz, an attorney involved in the Manhattan district attorney’s hush money case against the president.

More than 140 alumni of Paul Weiss signed a letter Monday protesting the firm’s decision. The same day, Trump suggested other major law firms should follow suit.
