To win the Bronx vote, Borough President Vanessa Gibson said candidates have to campaign — and deliver — on what matters to the people who call it home.

“Public safety is a big deal,” Gibson said during an interview on “Mornings On 1” Monday, adding, “We need more investments in youth services, we need more jobs, we need economic development. We have major capital projects like the Kingsbridge Armory and the Metro-North expansion and a lot of projects that are going to really revitalize our borough and we need resources.”

Her comments come as the hotly contested Democratic primary for mayor of New York kicks into full gear.

The long list of candidates grew yet again when former Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced his candidacy on Saturday.

Gibson said she would likely publicly endorse a candidate once they’re in the “heart of the campaign,” but that time has not arrived just yet.

As for gauging how voters are weighing Mayor Eric Adams’ performance as mayor thus far, she said it’s been a mixed bag.

“I think many New Yorkers are feeling that the city is not going in the right direction when it comes to the quality of life, public safety, the affordability, income inequality, housing, the affordability of that,” Gibson said.
