As the countdown to the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest intensifies, all eyes are on Miki Sudo, the reigning champion of the women’s division, as she prepares to defend her title once again.

Sudo, who has dominated the competition with nine victories, including a record-setting performance in 2020 when she consumed 48.5 hot dogs, appeared on "Mornings On 1" Tuesday—alongside George Shea, the event’s longtime emcee—saying she’s ready for the contest.

“I'm just going in with a lot of focus, I've done my practices, my body's conditioned and I'm thinking ready to put up my numbers,” Sudo said.

“I feel like I'm not I never get complacent. I don't want to get lazy because I have some great competition on the women's side. But I've done my work and I think it's gonna be a great show,” she added.

Sudo has consistently won since 2014, with the exception of 2021 when she took the year off due to her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Shea described the contest as a highlight of his year.

“I've been doing it since 1988. And for me, it really is the fourth of July. It's my favorite holiday of the year. I love summer. I love the lighthearted vibe. And for me, I just look forward to it all year,” Shea said.

This year’s contest will proceed without Joey Chestnut, the men’s champion, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown.

“It's going to be very hard fought,” Shea said.
