Tennis enthusiasts can look forward to an extended U.S. Open Fan Week in August, as organizers gear up for tennis season's final major.
Nicole Kankam, the USTA's marketing and entertainment director, announced on "Mornings On 1" that Fan Week will kick off earlier and offer more activities than in years past.
"It truly is a three-week event, and it's great to have U.S. Open Fan Week announced to be bigger and better than ever," Kankam said.
Fan Week kicks off Aug. 15 and continues through Aug. 25. The U.S. Open officially begins Aug. 26 and lasts through Sept. 8.
Beginning Monday, fans can enjoy a variety of activities, including the qualifying tournament, offering "a shot to see some of the up-and-coming players compete for the last few slots of the tournament," she said.
A new addition to the lineup — U.S. Open Mix Madness — is also being added to Fan Week.
"It's featuring top players competing men and women and a mixed doubles tournament for prize money," Kankam said.
Responding to concerns about ticket availability, Kankam acknowledged there has been unprecedented demand. However, she emphasized Fan Week's accessibility. "That first week is completely free and accessible. It's a great opportunity to see the U.S. Open facility and be part of the event," she said.
Tickets for signature events will also be on sale beginning 10 a.m. June 17, giving fans another chance to catch their favorite stars before the tournament officially begins.
