In honor of National Small Business Month, the Adams administration is set to host a new event aimed at supporting small businesses in the city.

The Small Business Month Expo, organized by the city Department of Small Business Services, is scheduled to take place on May 29 at Pier 36 in downtown Manhattan.

The expo promises to assist small business owners from various industries in connecting with city agencies, accessing legal and financial resources and navigating through license and permit procedures.

"You're going to be able to come and find under one roof every single free resource that New York City has to help you as a small business, whether you're thinking of starting a small business or whether you're operating a business or just want to grow,” said Kevin Kim, commissioner of the city’s Department if Small Business Services, on “Mornings On 1” Thursday.

“We're gonna have all of our services there. And we also have 40 of our sister agencies all showing up to talk about government contracting opportunities," Kim said.

A series of new advertisements with the slogan “Shop Your City” is also being launched to encourage New Yorkers to support small businesses.

Meanwhile, Kim highlighted the help that is already available to small business owners through the New York City Business Express Service Team.

“Over the past two years, we've helped over 5,000 businesses save $31 million by cutting red tape. We can help you open a business in half the time that you want it to open,” he said.
