Attorney and former prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Jeremy Saland provided insights Friday into the New York civil case against former President Donald Trump, which is poised to hear a verdict in the fraud trial in the afternoon.

Speaking on "Mornings On 1," Saland cautioned that the verdict could spell disaster for the Trump family and their business interests.

“It could be catastrophic, and you can take the family out of the Trump business potentially. And what I mean by that is that the ban could say that Donald Trump, Don Jr. [and] Eric could not operate or run those businesses in New York that they currently have,” he said.

New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking $370 million and a ban on Trump and other defendants from doing business in the state. Trump could also be hit with millions of dollars in penalties and other sanctions for allegedly inflating his wealth on financial statements that were given to banks, insurers and others to make deals and secure loans.

He noted that there could also be a ban for several years on acquiring loans from banks, which would harm them financially on top of potential fines the family is already facing.

And if Trump were to win the presidential election, "he couldn't pardon himself— that's a state case, that is not a federal case,” he said.
