Actor Steven Schirripa is set to assist in the revival of the all-star comedy benefit “Garden of Laughs” at Madison Square Garden next month.

Following a hiatus due to the pandemic, the event will make its return with a lineup of top talent including Jon Stewart, Jim Gaffigan, Heather McMahan and Chris DeStefano.

The aim of the event is to raise funds for children in the tri-state area, and Schirripa, best known for his role as Bobby Bacala on “The Sopranos,” will serve as the host.

Speaking on “Mornings On 1” Thursday, Schirripa shared his excitement about the upcoming show, noting that he feels a special connection with the children that it aims to help.

“It's very close to my heart. And I was one of those underprivileged kids. I grew up poor, on welfare in Brooklyn,” he said.

Though, he noted that the role he plays in the event might not be the most exciting.

“My job is like the job of a bran muffin. I keep things moving. That’s what my job is,” Schirripa said. “I just come out, I just introduce to keep the show going. We also have great presenters. There will be... a lot of celebrities, sports guys, friends of the Garden— so it really is a great, great night.”

Schirripa said over the years, the benefit has raised more $6 million for children, assisting with scholarships, mentorships and building recreational spaces.

“All the money stays here. Every dollar goes where it's supposed to,” he said. “And, you know, these kids have been with us for years, since 2006, same kids. This has changed the course of their life.”
