Rallies across New York City drew hundreds of supporters for both Israel and Palestine amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. But there have also been vigils held for the hundreds who have died since the fighting began just two days ago.

Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine has been among those that have attended and organized the vigils, telling “Mornings On 1” Monday “anybody with human decency has to be revolted by what we’re seeing out of these videos.”

“Last night was a chance for us to come together, hundreds, in Washington Heights of very diverse backgrounds, to support each other, and most importantly, to mourn innocent lives and to pledge to support each other in the difficult days ahead,” Levine said.

The borough president, who has family in Israel, said he has been in constant contact with loved ones and noted they are safe, but stressed that many New Yorkers cannot say the same of their families.

“The scale of this tragedy cannot be overstated,” he said.
