Getting to the airports in New York City is no easy feat, and one city councilman is hoping to change that.

Currently, travelers have the option to navigate a complicated network of subway trains, buses and AirTrains to make it to JFK or LaGuardia airports. Or, they can splurge on a costly taxi ride.

Councilman Erik Bottcher, who traveled to JFK Airport last week, posted on social media calling the travel situation a “disgrace” and noting that New York City can “do so much better.”

He then posted a series of suggestions to improve travel, including a more direct subway link to JFK and a direct link to LaGuardia, free shuttle buses from Manhattan to the airports and back and modifying AirTrain turnstiles to begin accepting OMNY contactless payment.

He appeared on “Mornings On 1” Monday to elaborate on his proposals.
