A New York City comedian has been documenting a unique way to connect with friends and strangers: couch surfing.

Johnny Gaffney embarked on his monthlong sleepover across the city on May 1, and just four days in, had spent the night in a Mexican restaurant.

The idea began when Gaffney sublet his apartment in Brooklyn and began calling up his friends to ask for a place to sleep. His journey from couch to couch was then documented on Instagram.

He describes the series, “Sleep-N-Around,” as a tour to “learn about living, people and living with people.”
