On Sept. 8, 1992, NY1 went on air for the first time ever.
In the 30 years since then, many things have changed — including where we broadcast the news from — but Cheryl Wills and Lewis Dodley have been there the entire time.
Dodley, who was behind the anchor desk on day one, joined “Mornings On 1” on Thursday and looked back on the past three decades, saying it's "unbelievable" how much has changed.
But, he said one thing has remained the same: "It's the attitude of NY1. It's the ability, the affability, the availability that is unique to the people who work here."
Meanwhile, Wills — who started off behind the camera — said the energy of NY1 has remained the same throughout the decades.
She noted that everyone who helped launch the station had a profoundly unique opportunity, and said she has been thrilled to be part of it.
