Hip-hop legend LL Cool J joined "Mornings On 1" Friday to discuss Saturday's "Rock the Bells" hip-hop festival at Forest Hills Stadium.
The festival will feature performances from numerous hip-hop legends, including Ice Cube, Fat Joe, Lil' Kim, Busta Rhymes and LL Cool J himself.
LL Cool J, who grew up in Queens, said the festival is about "elevating and celebrating" hip-hop culture.
"I feel like hip-hop is indisposable, and I feel like, the same reverence and deference in the way Paul McCartney gets celebrated, the way Bob Dylan gets celebrated or Mick Jagger, I feel like these artists, these kings and queens, deserve that same treatment for this art form," he said.
Some of the proceeds from the festival will go to the Universal Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx, which is currently under construction.
