Trump wins the 2024 presidential election, AP declares

Former President Donald Trump has clinched enough electoral votes to win the White House, The Associated Press declared on Wednesday, making him the first U.S. president to win a non-consecutive term since Grover Cleveland in 1892, the oldest person ever elected president, and the first person convicted of a felony to win the office.

Battleground Wisconsin, one of the three "blue wall" states that previously reliably voted for Democrats, put Trump over the top early Wednesday morning with its 10 electoral votes.

Results are coming in for New York City

The results for the November general election are coming in.

New Yorkers headed to the polls Tuesday to cast their vote in a number of races, here's what we know so far.

  • New Yorkers voted “yes” on an amendment that would expand statewide civil rights protections.
  • With approximately 96.29% of the expected vote tallied as of 5 a.m. Wednesday, Democratic U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is reelected to a third full term representing New York, The AP declared.
  • City residents also voted on five citywide ballot proposals Tuesday, but only one of them has so far been declared. According to The AP, proposal 2 had received just over 60% of the "yes" votes by early Wednesday morning.
