1. Mayor Adams announces reversal for some budget cuts

A police academy class of 600 recruits will begin training in April after Mayor Eric Adams said some budget cuts would be restored.

In November, the mayor said the city couldn’t afford to hire the new officers.

2. F train service restored in Brooklyn following Coney Island derailment

Service on the F train was restored in Brooklyn overnight Thursday following a train derailment in Coney Island Wednesday, MTA officials said.

While F trains have resumed service between Avenue X and Coney Island, northbound F trains will run at slower speeds near West Eighth Street-New York Aquarium as repairs continue, according to the MTA.

3. Detainees request clean laundry, report unsanitary conditions on Rikers

Detainees, correction officers, attorneys and the federal monitor have detailed scores of issues and problems with Rikers Island. Many of them can be life threatening for the people in city jails. At a hearing on Monday, the department was criticized for not providing a sanitary living space either.
