Around NYC

1. Tracking a flood and wind threat for this week

A powerful storm system is bringing heavy snow and rain to parts of the United States, and it will arrive in New York City on Tuesday.

The major concerns with the storm are heavy rain, coastal flooding and strong winds. The worst of the weather will happen on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

2. Full service restored after Upper West Side train derailment

Full service on the 1, 2 and 3 lines resumed early Sunday morning, days after two trains derailed on the Upper West Side, officials said.

Two trains have been removed from the 96th Street subway tunnel and repairs were made to the tunnel's tracks and the third rail, Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a press release late Saturday night. A safety inspection of the tunnel was also completed.

3. City residents have mixed reactions to lack of snow

The city’s first anticipated snowstorm of the year was a dud. Flurries Saturday afternoon changed over to rain overnight, washing away any hopes of a snowy Sunday.

“Who doesn't like a snowball fight that randomly picks up with neighbors? And who doesn't love a little bit of white everywhere?” Carol Hickey said.
