A report published Tuesday by the City's Department of Investigation found top NYPD officials acted unprofessionally and inappropriately on social media.

This includes posts made back in May last year by NYPD Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry and the chief of patrol at the time, John Chell, now the chief of department.

The report concludes the police department's social media policies are out of compliance with citywide standards.

The watchdog agency also provided some formal recommendations to the NYPD.

Jocelyn Strauber, commissioner of the City Department of Investigation, sat down with Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk more about the report.

“To ensure that there’s a civil and publicly professional dialogue going forward, we need to have some policies and procedures in place to make sure there’s the right kind of oversight and review and training,” Strauber said.
