The City Campaign Finance Board released the latest numbers in the race for mayor Wednesday.
City Comptroller Brad Lander outraised the rest of the candidates in the field, but right behind him was former City Comptroller Scott Stringer.
This news comes as Stringer announced Thursday he is officially running in the Democratic primary this June to be the next mayor of New York City.
Part of his campaign promises include hiring 3,000 more police officers, launching a task force to improve New Yorkers' quality of life and reclaiming neglected properties from irresponsible landlords to convert them into affordable housing.
Stringer sat down with political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk more about his mayoral bid.
“With $4 million in the bank and a whole lot of support, I think we have a real chance to win,” Stringer said. “But it’s going to be about vision and who New Yorkers think is the best person to run this town in the way it should be run.”
