Progressive Republican John Lindsay was elected to mayor in 1965 after a memorable three-way race.
His two terms occurred during one of the most tumultuous eras in both New York City and American history.
A special three-part “You Decide” series hosted by NY1’s Errol Louis delves more into the former mayor’s legacy and includes reflection from Sam Roberts, a longtime reporter for The New York Times.
Roberts has covered urban affairs in New York throughout his career of more than 50 years.
He sat down on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk more about the impact of Lindsay’s administration.
“There were a lot of innovations that we now take for granted that began under the Lindsay administration,” Roberts said.
