Mayor Eric Adams vowed to work with the New York City Campaign Finance Board after he was denied millions of dollars in public matching funds for his reelection campaign.

The board found the mayor ineligible “at this time,” saying there is reason to believe the Adams campaign has “engaged in conduct detrimental to the Matching Funds Program and in violation of law.”

Paul Ryan, the executive director of the Campaign Finance Board, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to talk about the board’s decision.

“All of the public funding decisions made by the board today relate only to today. The eligibility is not determined permanently for anymore,” he said, adding this was the first of eight public funding payment dates until primary day.

“Candidates can resubmit their paperwork and say, ‘We fixed whatever paperwork you identified. We are now eligible.’ And then the board determines on that date once again,” Ryan continued.
