The presidential race wasn’t the only item on the ballot this election cycle. New York City voters also had the chance to weigh in on several ballot proposals.
While most of the measures passed, there was one proposal that failed to get enough votes.
The proposal dealt with establishing a chief business diversity officer to better support minority and women-owned business enterprises.
This role does already exist in the mayor’s office, but the measure would have enshrined the position in the City Charter.
However, the current chief business diversity officer is still at work nearly a month after the election — joining the mayor and his administration earlier to announce record-breaking investment in contracts with minority and women-owned businesses.
Chief Business Diversity Officer Michael Garner joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to discuss more.
