The City Council held a hearing Tuesday to take a deeper look at the leasing practices of the city’s Department of Citywide Administrative Services, or DCAS.
Questions surrounding the city agency arose when Jesse Hamilton, a longtime ally of Mayor Eric Adams and top official, had his phones seized by the Manhattan district attorney’s office last month.
The hearing specifically focused on a pending lease at 14 Wall Street, where the owner is a long-time donor to Adams’ campaign.
City Councilman Lincoln Restler, who represents parts of Brooklyn, including Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Greenpoint, is the chair of the committee on governmental operations and state and federal legislation and the member leading the hearing.
He sat down with NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to talk more about how the proceeding went.
“The Department of Citywide Administrative Services is the back end of city government. One important responsibility is that they oversee a $1.5 billion leasing portfolio,” Restler said. “We wanted to dig into some of the alleged corruption.”
